University of Calgary Killam Visiting Scholar Award

The Killam Visiting Scholar Award provides sponsorship of a distinguished scholar who will make significant contributions to academic life at the University of Calgary. A visiting scholar is expected to participate in the research and teaching programs of the host department or faculty, as well as to engage in their own research.

The award consists of a stipend of $50,000 (Canadian), plus a research and travel allowance of $3,000 (Canadian). The visit should occur during the winter or fall term of the following academic year.

Note that the nominating academic unit must commit, in the nomination letter, to supporting the employer portion of the statutory benefits applied to the Visiting Scholar’s appointment (e.g., vacation pay and non-health benefits).
