“Eugen Ionescu” doctoral and postdoctoral research grants

The “Eugen Ionescu” program allows researchers from member or observer countries of the OIF and Algeria, from higher education institutions that are members of the AUF, to benefit from a 3-month research mobility in the one of the 26 higher education institutions in Romania.

This scholarship program is named after the playwright Eugen Ionescu to pay homage to the Romanian-French writer (1909, Slatina, Romania-1994, Paris, France), an emblematic figure of twentieth century literature and a major representative of the theater of th ‘absurd, through famous works such as’ La Cantatrice bald’, ‘La Leçon’ and ‘Les Chaises’.

International call for applications open from December 20, 2019 to February 16, 2020 (11 p.m. Bucharest time, GMT + 2).

On May 23, 2007, the Government of Romania, following the commitment made at the 11th Francophonie Summit (Bucharest, September 2006), adopted a decree for the creation of a system of doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships, entitled ” Eugen Ionescu “. This program is aimed at foreign doctoral students and teacher-researchers who want to do a research internship in higher education institutions in Romania, members of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie.

The “Eugen Ionescu” program is funded by the Government of Romania, through the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The effective management of these grants is coordinated by the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, whose experience in this type of program is internationally recognized.

Objectives:

“Eugen Ionescu” mobility takes place within the network of AUF member establishments. They take French-speaking teachers and / or researchers outside their country, allowing them to improve their skills in the member universities of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie in Romania.

These forms of mobility fall within disciplinary fields deemed to be priorities for the development of the country of origin and consistent with the research interests of the host establishments.

Application procedures:

Please note that applying for the Eugen Ionescu scholarship program is a process that involves two essential steps:

  1. Pre-registration for the program requires obtaining a certificate of reception from the Romanian university that the candidate has chosen and to which he must send a pre-registration file (see the regulations below). Pre-registration must therefore be done sufficiently in advance to allow the prospective host university to process the file.
  2. The submission of the application to the AUF – each candidate must fill out an application file, imperatively and exclusively online, at the address  http://formulaires.auf.org/ (Calls for tenders in progress – Request for “Eugen Ionescu” doctoral / postdoctoral fellowship 2019-2020 in Romania (Central and Eastern Europe) – last deadline for transmitting files on February 16, 2020 , 11:00 p.m., Bucharest time (GMT + 2).
