Fudan-Princeton Postdoctoral Program (FPPP) on Contemporary China

Fudan University and Princeton University have established a joint Postdoctoral Fellowship Program: Fudan-Princeton Postdoctoral Program (FPPP), aimed at training highly-qualified, early-career postdoctoral researchers in studies of Chinese economics and society problems using big data so that they are positioned to become leaders in their respective academic fields. The Paul and Marcia Wythes Center on Contemporary China at Princeton University and Fudan University School of Data Science invite applications for two postdoctoral research associates in studies of contemporary China.

 We are offering two fellowships of up to 2-year duration: one year at Princeton University and one year at Fudan University. The first position is to have the first 12 months at Princeton and the next 12 months at Fudan. The second position is to have the first 12 months at Fudan, and the next 12 months at Princeton University. Both positions may be renewed after the first year contingent on satisfactory performance. Preferred start date is September 1, 2018. This position is subject to the Universities' background check policy. 

Eligibility: Open to highly qualified researchers who received their Ph.D. no more than three years prior to the start of the appointment; internal and external candidates are eligible. Applicants with or in tenure or tenure-track positions are ineligible. The position is primarily open to data science- relevant disciplines, but it can be open to any discipline, as long as the fellow conducts research on contemporary China and big data under the guidance of faculty at both Universities. Selection is based on academic excellence, quality of research project, compelling demonstration of anticipated synergy with the universities.

1.  A research proposal and time plan (max. 10 pages in total, including tables/figures and references);
2.  Concise Curriculum Vitae (max. 4 pages in total); 
3.  Two recommendation letters (including one from the applicant's doctoral supervisor);
4.  An endorsement from a potential supervisor at each of the two universities; and    
5.  One writing sample (not to exceed 10MB).   
Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
